Partners in Caring/Faith in Action
An ecumenical program In September of 2003, ECHO (Engaging Community Help in Outreach) created a ministry to help the elderly in our community. ECHO recognized that older adults in our congregations and our community, many the oldest old, were struggling to remain in their homes. Home care services had not met their needs because the services were costly or not easily attainable. To address the service gap, ECHO developed a model to bring congregational and community volunteer resources together to provide non-medical volunteer care giving services to the elderly and disabled members of our community. With the help of Faith in Action™, a program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, ECHO created Partners in Caring Faith in Action, an outreach in the towns of Mendon, Lima and Rush. Today Partners in Caring/Faith in Action is administered by the Lifespan Organization, which has offices at 1900 S. Clinton Avenue in Rochester. The mission remains the same, but now services are offered over an even larger geographical area. Partners in Caring/Faith in Action is listed on the national Faith in Action website. |
