Opportunities to Participate in Service
First Presbyterian Church of Honeoye Falls

While all committees provide a service to the life and working of the Church, the following organizations offer a special opportunity to provide for the care of members and others in our community and for the enhancement of the Worship Service. First Presbyterian Church also recognizes the need and desire of members to share in fellowship with each other beyond the Sunday Morning or Evening Worship Services. The following opportunities are available and open to anyone who wishes to participate.

Lay Readers
Lay Readers read an assigned scripture lesson during the Morning Worship Service. Individuals or families are usually asked to participate each Sunday for a period of one month.

Member Care Team - Connectors
The Member Care Team coordinates the "Connectors" program which provides monthly contact with all members of the congregation. This contact is helpful to the Pastor in making appropriate help and assistance available when needed. The team consists of the Pastor as Moderator, one Deacon, and Super Connectors who in turn coordinate volunteer connector care givers. Participating as a member of the Care Team or as a Connector can be a very rewarding experience, with a minimal time commitment.

Men's Association
The Men's Association has an annual meeting in October with special meetings called as necessary. It provides Christian fellowship among Association and Church members, supports the mission of the Church and provides programs and activities that enhance Christian fellowship in the community and First Presbyterian Church.

Middle School Youth Group
This group meets twice a month to provide social events and service activities for members of the First Presbyterian Church and the community. Any 6th, 7th or 8th grader is welcome to participate in any of the events.

Nursery Workers
Nursery Workers care for infants and toddlers during the Church School Hour and the Morning Worship Service that follows. They are usually called upon to serve on a rotational basis. Often they are assisted by Middle School or High School helpers.

Senior Choir
The Senior Choir provides music for the Sunday Morning Worship Service and special services. This group exists to enhance worship through meaningful performances of music. Anyone with basic singing ability from age 14 up is invited to become part of this group.

Bell Choir
The Bell Choir provides music for the Sunday Morning Worship Service and special services. This group exists to enhance worship through meaningful performances of music. Anyone with basic music reading and counting skills are invited to join.

Senior High Youth Group
This group of 9th through 12th graders meets weekly on Sunday evenings. Annual mission trips (usually a week in the summer) provide an opportunity to serve those in need as well as to stimulate the spiritual growth of all participants. Other activities include local service projects, lock-ins, retreats and participation in Special Church Services. They organize numerous fund-raisers to defray the cost of their yearly trip.

Teachers
Teachers often share the responsibility for teaching a class. Classes are offered from pre-kindergarten through adult. Curriculum for these classes is generally selected by the Christian Education Committee. Classes are held every Sunday during the hour before the Morning Worship Service.

Ushers
Ushers are responsible for preparing the sanctuary for worship and attending to the congregation during the service. They are generally enlisted to serve each Sunday for a period of one month of the year. Volunteers are also needed to operate the sound system.

Women's Association PWC (Presbyterian Women in Congregation)
The participants in this Association support the mission of the Church worldwide by working and sharing in fellowship in all activities of the Church including fund-raisers, missions, circles and luncheons. By using their time, talents and finances, they are able to provide for some of the needs of our Church, the surrounding community and missions. As part of this association, three circles Š Findley Circle, Guild Circle and New Era Circle meet on a monthly basis, either after church or at memberÕs homes. These meetings provide fellowship, service and Christian growth opportunities to all who participate. Church members and visitors are always welcome.
